Horseback riding in the Vatican

A one-of-a-kind experience of equestrian tourism

Dear horse lovers, my last horsey adventure with the Italian Federation of Equestrian Tourism Fitetrec-Ante has been the experience of a lifetime, one I will not forget!

Although it still seems impossible to me, I can proudly say that I went in the Vatican on horseback: all the way in the saddle from the Tor di Quinto Military Riding Center through the historical center of Rome, untill St. Peter’s Square, right in front of the Basilica!

Cari amanti del cavallo, la mia ultima avventura con la Federazione Italiana del Turismo Equestre Fitetrec-Ante è stata l'esperienza della vita, una di quelle che non si dimenticano!

Anche se mi sembra ancora impossibile, posso dire con orgoglio di essere andata in Vaticano a cavallo: in sella dal Centro Ippico Militare di Tor di Quinto, attraversando il centro storico di Roma, fino a Piazza San Pietro, proprio di fronte alla Basilica!

Last Sunday 3rd July has been a memorable day full of satisfaction and excitement for honoring in the saddle the Jubilee of Mercy ended with the greetings of Pope Francis during his Angelus address: “I thank the members of the Italian Federation of Equestrian Tourism come on horseback, some of them from Krakow.”

We were 250 riders from different regions of Italy joining the 45th Fitetrec-Ante National Horsetour and a group of international pilgrims from the Journey of Mercy on horseback coming from all over the world, along a path that started in Krakow. With me, besides my family, there was also Yulia Frolova, the “horse trotter” of Russian origin from the blog EquiGeo traveling the globe on horseback.

La scorsa domenica 3 luglio è stata una giornata memorabile piena di soddisfazione ed emozione per aver onorato in sella il Giubileo della Misericordia, conclusa con il saluto di Papa Francesco durante il suo discorso all’Angelus: “ringrazio i soci della Federazione Italiana Turismo Equestre giunti a cavallo, alcuni addirittura da Cracovia.”

Eravamo 250 cavalieri provenienti da diverse regioni d’Italia per il 45° Equiraduno Nazionale Fitetrec-Ante e un gruppo di pellegrini del Viaggio della Misericordia a cavallo  venuti da tutto il mondo, lungo un cammino iniziato a Cracovia. Con me, oltre alla mia famiglia, anche Yulia Frolova, la “horse trotter” di origini russe del blog EquiGeo che gira il mondo a cavallo.
