After my trip to Cuba, I have been pampered by incredible Chanel Cruise Collection, that mixes the elegance of the French Maison with the colors and vitality of the magical island. A place I am bound to never forget, where I met and interviewed horse whisperer Julio Munõz, and which is still in my heart.
Four are the Cuban colors in this collection: the green of lush vegetation, the red of buildings and Hibiscus flowers, the yellow of the sun and the wheat, and the blue of the sky and Caribbean’s sea. A color explosion that really recalls the sparkling atmosphere of the island, the same atmosphere that printed my memory and my heart.

Dopo il mio viaggio a Cuba, mi sono innamorata dell’ultima Chanel Cruise Collection, una collezione sopraffina che unisce l’eleganza della casa di moda francese ai colori e alla vitalità di un’isola magica. Un posto che non dimenticherò mai, dove ho conosciuto e intervistato il sussurratore di cavalli Julio Munõz, un posto che mi è rimasto nel cuore.
Sono in particolare quattro i colori cubani che si ritrovano nella collezione: il verde della lussureggiante vegetazione, il rosso delle facciate delle case e dei fiori di Ibisco, il giallo del sole del grano e il blu del cielo e del mare dei Caraibi. Un’esplosione di colori che richiama davvero l’atmosfera frizzante dell’isola, la stessa atmosfera che è viva nei miei ricordi.
As so often in the fashion world, but in a revolutionary style, Karl Lagerfeld reinterpreted the iconic pieces of the Maison for the Chanel Cruise Collection: the 11.12 bag was entirely embroidered with pink and khaki sequins, while some dresses and accessories were made entirely from crochet and macramé, respecting Cuban traditions.
Come spesso accade nel mondo della moda, ma in uno stile rivoluzionario, Karl Lagerfeld ha reinterpretato i pezzi iconici della Maison per la Chanel Cruise Collection: la borsa 11.12 è stata interamente ricamata con paillettes rosa e cachi, mentre alcuni abiti e accessori sono stati realizzati interamente in uncinetto e macramè, nel rispetto della tradizione cubana.
While it is little known about the influence of the equestrian world on Chanel’s ideas and creations, the fashion house has always had straight bonds with horses and riding: the suit jackets, the leather belts, as well as the masculine‑feminine spirit of the Cruise Collection make no exception. Coco Chanel’ love for horses is back also in the last collection ready-to-wear autumn winter 2016-2107, with boots, gloves, and tweed jackets that are inspired by the style of horsewomen. Coco Chanel, whose real name was Gabrielle Chanel, discovered the equestrian world in adult age and she instantly fell in love. This big passion infected her job and between many anecdotes of Chanel’s life, I want to tell you about the one connected with her love for horses. Coco Chanel wanted to be comfortable while riding, so she created the first trousers for woman: a historic moment for fashion and for every fashionista Horse Lover! We can’t be less than happy about this!
Sebbene l’influenza del mondo equestre sulle idee e le creazioni di Chanel sia poco conosciuta, la casa di moda ha sempre avuto forti legami con il cavallo: le giacche, le cinture in cuoio, così come lo spirito maschile-femminile della Cruise Collection non fanno eccezione. L’amore per i cavalli di Coco Chanel ritorna anche nell’ultima collezione prēt-à-porter autunno inverno 2016-2017 dal sapore equestre, con stivali, guanti e giacche in tweed che richiamano lo stile amazzone. Coco Chanel, all’anagrafe Gabrielle Chanel, ha scoperto il mondo equestre in età adulta, innamorandosene fortemente. Questa passione ha inevitabilmente contagiato il suo lavoro da stilista e tra i tanti aneddoti della vita di Chanel, ve ne voglio raccontare uno che deriva proprio dal suo amore per i cavalli. Si dice che per essere più comoda mentre cavalcava, Coco Chanel abbia dato vita ai pantaloni da donna: un momento storico per il mondo della moda e per noi Horse Lovers fashioniste!
