Piazza di Siena: this year is special!

“The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new” (Socrates)

Dear horse lovers, we are less than a day away from the beginning of one of my favorite horse show! Starting tomorrow until Sunday 24th the grace, elegance and splendor of Villa Borghese will welcome the 83rd edition of Piazza di Siena.

I am super excited and curious because this year is a year of novelty and change!

Piazza di Siena will be celebrating a new show director, the great Eleonora Ottaviani, a new President of the national governing body FISE, the legendary Vittorio Orlandi, and the golden Italian Team - Piergiorgio Bucci, Lorenzo de Luca, Luca Moneta and Daniele Augusto da Rios – who won the opening leg of the prestigious Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup™ Europe Division 1 series at Lummen last 1st of May, competing head to head against the elite group of nations after a period in Division 2.

After lots of discussions about the drama and popularity of the Puissance, designed to push both horse and rider to their limits, the famous show jumping competition will be replaced by a Loro Piana Six Bar competition, expecting to be another thrilling and tough test of horse power.

All of these special news add a very new dimension to the event that so proudly stood the test of time and continues to thrive in ever changing times.

Longines, the Swiss watch brand, will be the official timekeeper of the event adding yet further value with its watchmaking expertise and passion for equestrian sports.

You can enjoy the top class competitions live on FEI TV and Class Horse TV

Don’t miss the third leg of the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup™ presented by Longines on Friday, the Small Grand Prix and the Six Bar competition on Saturday, and the Loro Piana Grand Prix on Sunday!
