“I am very grateful to Longines as this award’s been going to some of the most impressive women in the equestrian world” (HRH Princess Anne)
Her Royal Highness Princess Anne, second child and only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh, was awarded by Longines with the prestigious Longines Ladies Award, yesterday night in London at The Natural History Museum.
At its fourth edition, the Longines Ladies Awards celebrate women who have achieved consistently high level performance and given a significant contribution to the equestrian sport with their work.
Sua Altezza Reale la Principessa Anne, secondogenita e unica figlia femmina della Regina Elisabetta II e del Principe Filippo Duca di Edimburgo, ha ricevuto da Longines il prestigioso premio Longines Ladies Award, ieri sera a Londra presso il Museo di Storia Nazionale.
Alla sua quarta edizione, il premio Longines Ladies Awards celebra le donne che hanno ottenuto dei risultati di alto livello e dato un contributo significativo nello sport equestre con il loro lavoro.
The Princess Royal is an outstanding rider and competed for several years with the British Eventing team with great results. European Champion in 1971, she won team bronze in 1973 and took individual and team silver medals in 1975, and the following year was selected to compete for Great Britain in the Olympic Games of Montreal, in Canada. Her accomplishments in the saddle led her to be appointed as President of the International Equestrian Federation for two terms between 1986 and 1994, President of the British Olympic Association in 1983 and is nowadays Member of the International Olympic Committee. In the recent years, Her Royal Highness was instrumental in London’s successful bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games and was a member of the London Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games.
La Principessa Reale è un’eccezionale amazzone e ha gareggiato per diversi anni con la squadra britannica di Completo ottenendo grandi risultati. Campionessa Europea nel 1971, ha vinto il bronzo a squadre nel 1973 e ha preso la medaglia d’argento individuale e di squadra nel 1975, e nell’anno successivo è stata selezionata per competere con la Gran Bretagna ai Giochi Olimpici di Montreal, in Canada. I suoi successi in sella l’hanno portata a essere nominata Presidente della Federazione Equestre Internazionale per due mandati, tra il 1986 e il 1994, Presidente della British Olympic Association nel 1983 ed è oggi membro del Comitato Olimpico Internazionale. Longines presented HRH Princess Anne with the Longines Equestrian Pocket Watch Horses Trio 1911, a 18 carat rose gold pocket watch produced in a very limited edition with a cleverly crafted background depicting a trio of horses, symbol of the strong ties of the winged hourglass brand with the equestrian sports.
Longines ha consegnato a Sua Altezza Reale la Principessa Anne il Longines Equestrian Pocket Watch Horses Trio 1911, un orologio da tasca in oro rosa 18 carati prodotto in edizione limitata che presenta sul fondello un'incisione di un trio di cavalli in omaggio alla passione di Longines per gli sport equestri.
This year’s award has been judged and decided by three leading personalities in the equestrian world: Ingmar de Vos, President of the FEI (Fédération Equestre Internationale), Louis Romanet, Chairman of the IFHA (International Federation of Horseracing Authorities), and Nathalie Bélinguier, President of the FEGENTRI (International Federation of Gentleman and Lady Riders) - in the picture they are lining up on the left of The Princess Royal.
