Fashion is a special form of art, which is capable of creating new styles and innovative forms of expression; it is the symbol of a constantly evolving society. As a mom and equestrian woman, I like when the world of fashion design pays attention to more practical aspects such as wearability and comfort. This year one brand has been able to put these aspects together creating a collection which is entirely dedicated to women – in fact, to Horse Lovers!
It's Derek Lam, an American designer who in 2011 – together with Jan-Hendrik Schlottmann – created a clothing brand that combines luxury with elegance and simplicity of forms. The main theme of Derek Lam Fall 2018 collection was inspired by the equestrian world and the special relationship which is established between a woman and her horse – a relationship based on an exchange of energy and strength, and – above all – mutual respect.

la moda è una forma d’arte molto speciale, capace di creare nuovi stili e forme di espressione innovative, simbolo di una società in continua evoluzione. Da mamma e donna equestre adoro quando il mondo del fashion design riserva attenzione ad aspetti più pratici come la vestibilità e il comfort. C’è un brand che quest’anno ha saputo raccontare al meglio entrambi questi elementi, realizzando una collezione Autunno 2018 tutta “a misura di donna”. Anzi, a misura di Horse Lover!
È Derek Lam, uno stilista americano che nel 2011, insieme a Jan-Hendrik Schlottmann, ha dato vita a un marchio di abbigliamento che combina il lusso a un’estrema delicatezza e semplicità delle forme. Il tema della collezione Derek Lam Autunno-Inverno 2018 si ispira al mondo equestre e, in particolare, alla relazione speciale che si instaura fra la donna e il suo cavallo. Un rapporto che si basa su un interscambio di energia e forza, ma anche e soprattutto di rispetto reciproco.
Although some of the garments in this collection shows the stylized silhouette of a horse, most models tend to draw inspiration from equestrian fashion, leaving room for imagination. The soft and sensual shapes, combined with small inserts with fringes and bands are inspired by the most classic equestrian style, which has been revisited in a modern and sensual way.
The perfect mix between the contemporary and bohemian spirit is the detail that makes this collection so unique and special. The reinterpretation of clothing items such as ponchos and capes, and the recovery of vintage fabrics such as plaid wool perfectly match the needs of the modern woman, eager to express her femininity without giving up on comfort. In this sense, the introduction of more "masculine" elements such as ties, pinstripes jackets and wide trousers contribute to making this enchanting collection even more unique.
Sebbene alcuni dei capi della collezione riportino la sagoma stilizzata di un cavallo, la maggior parte dei modelli tende a prendere ispirazione dalla moda equestre, lasciando ampio spazio all’immaginazione. Le forme morbide e sensuali, abbinate a piccoli inserti con frange e fasce, prendono spunto da uno stile equestre più classico, il tutto rivisto in chiave moderna ed estremamente sensuale.
Il mix perfetto fra contemporaneità e spirito bohémien è il dettaglio che fa di questa collezione qualcosa di unico e speciale. La rivisitazione di capi d’abbigliamento quali poncho e mantelle, e il recupero di tessuti vintage come la lana plaid accompagnano alla perfezione le esigenze della donna moderna, desiderosa di esprimere la propria femminilità senza rinunciare al comfort. In questo senso anche l’introduzione di elementi più “maschili” come cravatte, giacche gessate e pantaloni ampi contribuiscono ad aggiungere ancora più unicità a questa incantevole collezione.
