Interview to horse whisperer Julio Muñoz during my trip to Cuba

“The horse is happy. It trusts me. It’s willing to let me do things a horse normally won’t let humans do” (Julio Muñoz)

Dear Horse Lovers,
I have already told you about my amazing journey to Cuba, at Havana, riding at the beach, and the countryside of Trinidad, but I’ve never mentioned that I had the pleasure to interview an incredible horse whisperer during my holidays. His name is Julio Muñoz and he has special communicational abilities with horses that are unique in the island.
“I never had horses in my life” revealed Julio as first thing, “I’ve learnt everything thanks to visitors who arrived in my B&B “Casa particular Muñoz” in Trinidad de Cuba. I hosted veterinary doctors and horse trainer who indicated me books about horses. So I discovered the techniques of Monty Roberts and my life has changed. Now, in addition to my work at the B&B, together with my wife and my daughters, I’ve started Project Diana, to sensitize Cubans and teach them that there is another way to work with horses: a gentile method, without pain and fear”.

Cari Horse Lovers,

Julio told me about his first mare, Diana, who inspired his ambitious project. She died for a colic, a disease that can be treated. “Some time later Diana passed away, a veterinary doctor who was my guest told me that I could have saved my horse. So I’ve started reading and studying and I’ve decided to dedicate to her my project for the well-being of horses”.
“I establish a relationship with horses. They live with me so they can learn to trust me; only then I can get close and I can touch them. When I work with a horse, I take all the time I need. Horses communicate between them with body language, so I do the same”.

I cavalli vivono con me, così imparano a fidarsi di me, solo allora li tocco.

How is Julio spreading his method?
“I’ve started grooming my horses on the street, so people get curious and I can talk about my method”!
Julio’s history is very inspiring for me. It taught me that there are no excuses, will can get us everywhere. And this is the New Year wish for all of us, Horse Lovers.
Happy 2017!

Buon 2017!
