Dear horse lovers, this year again I attended the Longines Global Champions Tour of Rome with Longines, Title Partner, Timekeeper and Official Watch of the circuit, which took place at the epic Stadio dei Marmi “Pietro Mennea” from 8 to 11 September. During the four days of competitions, we had it all! Welcomed by an amazing sunshine and crispy air typical of the Roman “Dolce Vita”, the city fell victim to an unlucky weather with thunder, lightning, heavy hail, and sudden downpours that horses and riders found themselves up to their knees in water and main classes were postponed or cancelled. The LGCT Rome might have been one of the most unpredictable, crazy horse show events this season!
Cari amanti dei cavalli, anche quest’anno sono stata al Longines Global Champions Tour di Roma con Longines, Title Partner, Cronometrista e Orologio Ufficiale del circuito, che ha avuto luogo in un epico Stadio dei Marmi “Pietro Mennea” dall’8 all’11 settembre. Nel corso delle quattro giornate di gare, è successo di tutto! Accolta da una giornata di sole e aria frizzante tipica della “Dolce Vita” romana, la città è stata colpita da un tempo sfortunato con tuoni, fulmini, grandine fortissima e acquazzoni improvvisi, tanto che cavalli e cavalieri si sono ritrovati con l’acqua fino alle ginocchia e le gare sono state spostate o cancellate. Il LGCT Roma è stato uno degli eventi più imprevedibili e folli di questa stagione!
Nevertheless, the Longines Global Champions Tour of Rome was still fantastic for me, definitely a whirlwind few days that I’m still very excited about and I am glad I had the chance to be a part of this. The Longines VIP Lounge is always a unique opportunity to fully enjoy the dreaming atmosphere of the event and seat next to our idols and the best riders in the world! In ogni caso, il Longines Global Chmpions Tour di Roma è stato fantastico per me, decisamente un turbine di emozioni concentrate in pochi giorni di cui sono ancora molto entusiasta e sono contenta di aver avuto la possibilità di farne parte. La Longines VIP Lounge è sempre un’opportunità unica per vivere appieno l’atmosfera da sogno dell’evento e sedersi accanto ai propri idoli e ai cavalieri migliori del mondo! Highlight of the weekend, the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Rome was won by Dutchman Harrie Smolders on Don VHP Z, followed by the speedy Frenchman Simon Delestre on Chesall Zimequest, who took the silver medal, and Maikel van der Vleuten on VDL Groep Arera C in third position.
The circuit continues in Vienna, 15th to18th September, and to Doha from 3rd to 5th November for the last stage of the series. At the moment, Rolf-Göran Bengtsson leads the Longines Global Champions Tour Ranking with 272 points and Edwina Tops-Alexander is second with 267 points.

La gara più importante del weekend, il Gran Premio del Longines Global Champions Tour di Roma è stata vinta dall'olandese Harrie Smolders su Don VHP Z, seguito dal veloce francese Simon Delestre su Chesall Zimequest, che ha preso la medaglia d'argento, e Maikel van der Vleuten su VDL Groep Arera C in terza posizione.
Il circuito continua a Vienna, dal 15 al 18 settembre, e a Doha dal 3 al 5 novembre per l'ultima tappa della serie. Al momento, Rolf-Göran Bengtsson conduce la classifica del Longines Global Champions Tour con 272 punti ed Edwina Tops-Alexander è seconda con 267 punti.
