#Rio2016: Amazing Equestrian Olympic Games

“It’s not the will to win that matters, everyone has that. It’s the will to prepare to win that matters.” (Paul “Bear” Bryant)

It was an amazing summer for horses and sport lovers with the Rio 2016 Olympic Games: into the samba groove, two hearts (riders and horses) have tackled the race with honor and soul!

About Olympics… Did you know the first Italian gold medal in the history of Olympic Games was in Equestrianism? The 2nd June 1900 at the Paris Olympic Games, Lord Gian Giorgio Trissino on Oreste won the High Jump competition clearing 1.85 meters. What a glorious Olympic equestrian past for Italy ;)

But let’s come back in 2016 into the equestrian complex at Deodoro! Have you followed the equestrian events in these days? Germany led the country medalist equestrian rankings with six medals, followed by France and Great Britain, both with three medals. They were really exciting despite the Italian team hasn’t reached the final.

On top of the world of Dressage Individual there is the British rider Charlotte Dujardin and her horse Valegro, who together have just become the first Team GB athletes to retain an individual Olympic Gold medal in the incredible competition of Freestlyle Dressage.
Germany's Isabell Werth on Weihegold Old won the Silver medal with Kristina Bröring-Sprehe on Desperados FRH in Bronze. For Italy, Valentina Truppa finished in 52° place along with Chablis.

Argento e Bronzo vanno alle tedesche Isabelle Werth su Weihegold Old e Kristina Bröring-Sprehe su Desperados FRH.

Too bad for the unfortunate competition of our Italian horseman Stefano Brecciaroli and Apollo vd Wendi Kurt Hoeve. They were the long-awaited duo, qualified in 10th position at the first round, out for not having overstepped properly an obstacle in cross country. Tougher than expected, also Arianna Schivo, Luca Roman and Peter Roman didn’t win any medals.

With full hearts and great pride, congratulations for your achievements Olympians, two- and four-legged!
