Today I want to share with you the idea of an enthusiastic Horse Lover who has been following Tacchi a Cavallo for a long time, and who recently contacted me as an equestrian fashion blogger to ask me for support and advice for her thesis. The title of the dissertation is "How equitation influences the fashion world": something in perfect 'Tacchi a Cavallo' style :)
“I love to see how my passion is reflected in designers’ collections and worn also by those who do not practice this sport.” These are the words of Sylvie, Linguistic Sciences student at Università Cattolica of Milan, who's now close to her degree. I wanted to have a chat with her and get to know her story. Sylvie has always been fascinated by horses since her childhood. She describes them as "elegant, strong and sensitive" animals, who have taught her to be patient and confident. Two essential skills to succeed in the saddle, as in life.

oggi condivido l'idea di una Horse Lover appassionata che segue da tempo Tacchi a Cavallo e che di recente mi ha contattata per chiedermi supporto e consiglio per la sua tesi, in qualità di equestrian fashion blogger. Il titolo della dissertazione? “Come l’equitazione influenza il mondo della moda”: un tema decisamente in stile 'Tacchi a Cavallo' :)
“Amo il fatto di vedere una parte di questa mia passione riflessa nelle collezioni e indossata anche da chi non pratica questo sport”. Parola di Sylvie, studentessa di Scienze Linguistiche presso l’Università Cattolica di Milano, che è ormai prossima alla tesi. Ho voluto scambiare quattro chiacchiere con lei e conoscere la sua storia. Sylvie è sempre stata affascinata dai cavalli, fin da piccola. Li descrive come animali “eleganti, forti e sensibili” che le hanno insegnato a essere paziente e sicura di sé. Due abilità non da poco per avere successo in sella, come nella vita.
Those who feel the thrill of getting into the saddle know it's a feeling of freedom that stays with you forever. Although Sylvie had to interrupt her riding lessons to devote herself to her studies, she never stopped going to the same riding school she used to go as a child or horseback riding in the woods.
Horses are special animals, and we Horse Lovers know this very well. "I felt like I was full of energy, euphoric, when I was with my horse. I kept smiling all the time and I was really happy,” she told me.
Chi prova l’ebbrezza del salire in sella lo sa, è una sensazione di libertà che resta dentro per sempre. Nonostante Sylvie abbia dovuto interrompere le lezioni di equitazione per dedicarsi agli studi, non ha mai smesso di frequentare il maneggio dove andava da bambina, né di fare passeggiate a cavallo nei boschi.
Il cavallo è un animale speciale, e noi Horse Lovers lo sappiamo bene. “Mi sentivo come se fossi piena di energie, euforica, quando ero a contatto con lui. Il sorriso non spariva ed ero davvero tanto felice”, mi ha raccontato.

It was natural for her to combine the love of riding with the love of fashion. But where to find the right bibliography? I suggested she should visit the Milano Fashion Library, a real 'must' in the world of fashion, ideal to find the right inspiration and to do a complete bibliography research. It is the largest library specialising in fashion in Europe, with an archive of over 70,000 titles from 1850 to the present day where you can find all sorts of topics, ideas, trends and historical references to fashion.
Browsing Vogue Italia of ‘56, ‘68, ‘77, ‘84 gives you a real picture of how fashion predetermined the costumes of Italy. Nothing in creativity is born or dies, but everything is transformed. With such a bibliography, you can discover incredible connections :)
È stato naturale per lei unire l’amore per l’equitazione a quello per la moda. Ma come fare per la bibliografia? Non potevo che consigliarle una visita alla Milano Fashion Library, un’istituzione nel mondo della moda, ideale per trovare la giusta ispirazione e fare una ricerca bibliografica veramente completa. È la più grande biblioteca specializzata in moda d'Europa, con un archivio di oltre 70.000 titoli dal 1850 ai giorni nostri dove poter scovare ogni sorta di argomento, spunto, tendenza e riferimento storico a tema fashion. Sfogliare Vogue Italia del 56, del 68, del 77, dell’84 ti dà una vera e propria fotografia dell’Italia: come la moda predetermina i costumi. Nulla nella creatività nasce o muore, ma tutto si trasforma. Con una tale bibliografia, si possono scoprire connessioni incredibili :)
