Dior unveiled the new Cruise Collection 2019 in nothing less than the 18th century-era Great Stables of Chantilly in France, famously the largest stables in Europe and leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour. The entire exhibition was a triumph of elegance and charm without comparison – from clothes, to models, to the location. Once again, the French fashion house celebrates the strength of women and its connection with nature and the equestrian world, the absolute protagonist of this event.

Dior ha presentato la nuova Collezione Cruise 2019 nella splendida cornice delle scuderie Grandes Écuries di Chantilly in Francia, famose per essere le scuderie più grandi d'Europa e tappa del Longines Global Champions Tour. Gli abiti, le modelle, la location: l'esibizione è stata un tripudio di eleganza e incanto senza paragoni. Ancora una volta la maison francese celebra la forza delle donne e il suo legame con la natura e con il mondo equestre, protagonista assoluto di questo evento. 









The merit goes to Maria Grazia Chiuri, the first woman artistic director at the reins of Christian Dior since 2016. The designer chose to bring to the catwalk the image of a strong, independent and self-conscious woman, paying homage to the escaramuzas: the female horseback riders of Mexican origin who have claimed the right to participate in the charreada, the traditional Mexican rodeo that was initially for men only. According to Vogue, an eight-woman escaramuza team flown in from Mexico opened and closed the show, riding side saddle in custom Dior: long dresses to echo the tradition, enriched by pleated lace, ruffled skirts and elegant wide-brimmed hats adorned with flowers and embroidery. 

Il merito è di Maria Grazia Chiuri, prima direttrice artistica donna alle redini di Christian Dior dal 2016. La stilista porta in passerella l’immagine di una donna forte, indipendente e consapevole di sé, scegliendo di rendere omaggio alle escaramuzas: le cavallerizze di origine messicana che hanno rivendicato il diritto di partecipare alla charreada (da charro), il tradizionale rodeo messicano per soli uomini. Secondo Vogue, una squadra di otto donne escaramuzas, volata direttamente dal Messico, ha avuto l'onore di aprire e chiudere lo spettacolo e di cavalcare all'amazzone in costume Dior: abiti lunghi come da tradizione arricchiti da pizzo plissettato, gonne a balze ed eleganti cappelli a falda larga adornati da fiori e ricami.

The clothes of this collection express strength and femininity with great equestrian style: the tulle of long-pleated skirts alternates with delicate floral motifs, which soften the contrast with the rubber boots worn by the contemporary riders. While the iconic Saddle Bag Dior is revisited and becomes the flagship accessory of the collection. Here again, Chiuri leaves her mark including the Toile de Jouy, a classic of French tailoring that covers the caban jackets worn by the models, the lace of Chantilly and the embroidery typical of her Italian culture. Also the designs of wild animals instead of the country views, as from original prints, are a must.

Gli abiti della collezione esprimono forza e femminilità con grande stile equestre: il tulle delle lunghe gonne plissettate si alterna a delicati motivi floreali, che addolciscono il contrasto con gli stivali di gomma indossati dalle cavallerizze contemporanee. Mentre l’iconica Saddle Bag Dior viene rivisitata e diventa l’accessorio di punta della collezione. Anche in questo caso la Chiuri lascia il segno, inserendo il Toile de Jouy, un classico della sartoria francese che riveste le giacche caban indossate dalle modelle, i pizzi di Chantilly e i ricami tipici della sua cultura italiana. Immancabili anche i disegni di animali feroci al posto delle vedute di campagna delle stampe originali.
