Tartan is back: Hobbs reinvents the equestrian fabric for Fall Winter 2017

“British and equestrian, the tartan is the king of the English style”

Dear Horse Lovers,
The first cold has arrived and it’s (finally) time to say goodbye to cotton and silk looks to cuddle us with new warm plaid and tartan checks. The traditional Scottish pattern is on a fashion track, exploring new horizons by appearing in various colors and sizes from the top runways of New York, London, Milan and Paris. Stand-out motif of the season, once again the tartan conquered the designers and the fashionistas around the world!

The English fashion house Hobbs London interpreted the tartan in its 2017/2018 Fall Winter Collection by offering us Horse Lovers bold new styling choices. The new campaign with horses and checkered coats, skirts, jackets and scarves is the essence of the British equestrian style, that makes me think to wonderful rides over the Devon’s meadows.

Cari Horse Lovers,
Il tradizionale tessuto scozzese torna in pista sulle passerelle di New York, Londra, Milano and Parigi, esplorando nuove sfumature e declinazioni.

Born in Scotland, where it was used as the symbol of the status of the Scottish families, the tartan is a real British icon in the world and this Luuk Magazine's mood board brilliantly illustrates it: from British designers such as Vivienne Westwood (center) and Alexander McQueen (top left in a traditional Scottish kilt next to Sarah Jessica Parker at the 2006 Met Gala) up to Hollywood nineties movie “Clueless” (bottom right). Even the British Royals love to use it, from Princess Diana (bottom left) to the Duchess of Cambridge (top right), raising the social class of this ancient pattern.

The creations of Hobbs London are very interesting. It used different kind of tartan, but I must say that my favorite is the classical red one, a really British and equestrian shadow

Red is the color of London and it was protagonist also during the London leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour 2017, thanks to the amazing jackets of the London Knights. Well, for me this tone perfectly represent the British equestrian style, do you agree with me Horse Lovers?
