Even this year, the Royal Ascot has captured the attention of the British public and press. The 2018 edition ended just a few days ago, after a long kermesse of horse racing and bets that, from the 19th to 23th June, gave us exciting moments both on and off the field.

anche quest’anno il Royal Ascot ha catturato l’attenzione del pubblico e della stampa britannica. L’edizione 2018 si è conclusa proprio qualche giorno fa, dopo una lunga kermesse di corse di cavalli e scommesse che, dal 19 al 23 giugno, ci ha regalato momenti emozionanti dentro e fuori dal campo.
The event was the occasion for Longines to celebrate the renewal of its long-lasting partnership with Ascot, which sees the brand becomes an Official Partner of the racecourse and continues its designation as the Official Watch and Timekeeper, but also to launch a new ultra-precise timing and positioning system. The available data will soon include the precise route taken by each horse in a race and the amount of ground it covered. The traditional heated debates about whether or not a particular horse was unlucky will at last have some solid evidence as an aid to discussion.
Juan-Carlos Capelli, Vice President and Head of International Marketing of Longines said: “For Longines, investing in technological innovation is the latest step in its long-term relationship with horseracing. The Longines Tracking System delivers a number of benefits to the sport and is a game-changer for the racing industry. We believe that live performance data enhances viewing experience, facilitating a more in-depth understanding of the sport.”
L'evento è stato l'occasione per Longines di festeggiare il rinnovo della consolidata collaborazione con l'ippodromo di Berkshire, che vede il marchio orologiero svizzero diventare lo sponsor ufficiale di Ascot oltre a continuare a ricoprire il ruolo di cronometrista e orologio ufficiale, ma anche di lanciare un nuovo sistema di cronometraggio e posizionamento ultra preciso. I dati disponibili includeranno presto la rotta precisa presa da ciascun cavallo in una gara e la quantità di terreno coperta. I tradizionali dibattiti accesi sulla sfortuna o meno di un cavallo in particolare avranno finalmente delle prove solide come aiuto alla discussione.

Horses, style and fashion have always been the protagonists of this event, an absolute triumph of colors and extravagant hats of sartorial elegance and aristocratic essence, in the typical British fashion. Participants in the event are required to respect a rigid dress code: knee-length skirts and a belt or waistband for women, a top hat and a gray or black formal suit for men. The members of the royal family, as always, amazed the crowd with their looks: for the opening day Queen Elizabeth stole the show with a lively yellow outfit with light blue details and ornaments.
Non solo i cavalli, ma anche stile e moda sono da sempre i protagonisti di questo evento, un vero e proprio tripudio di colori e cappelli stravaganti fra eleganza sartoriale e aristocratica mondanità, nell’ormai tipico british style. I partecipanti all’evento sono tenuti a rispettare un rigido dress code: gonne al ginocchio e obbligo di cintura o fascia in vita per le donne, cappello a cilindro e abito da cerimonia grigio o nero per gli uomini. I membri della famiglia reale, come sempre, hanno stupito la folla con i loro look: per la giornata di inaugurazione la Regina Elisabetta ha rubato la scena con un brioso completo giallo con dettagli e ornamenti celesti.
This year, however, everyone's attention has been captured by the participation of newlyweds Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who were coincidentally marking their one-month wedding anniversary at Royal Ascot. The Duchess of Sussex has chosen to wear a soft Givenchy chemisier dress with lace inserts, combined with a very peculiar hat by Philip Treacy in a cream and black ensemble. The sobriety and minimalism of her style differentiates itself once again from the sought-after lace of Kate Middleton's clothes from past editions. Prince Harry, for his part, has shown great elegance in his formal black suit combined with light-blue vest and tie.
Quest’anno però l’attenzione di tutti è stata catturata dalla partecipazione dei neo sposi, il Principe Harry e Meghan Markle. La Duchessa di Sussex ha scelto di indossare un morbido abito chemisier di Givenchy con inserti in pizzo, abbinato a un cappello che porta la firma di Philip Treacy in un look studiato per creare un raffinato contrasto crema e nero. La sobrietà e il minimalismo del suo stile si differenzia ancora una volta dai pizzi ricercati degli abiti di Kate Middleton delle passate edizioni. Il Principe Harry, dal canto suo, ha dato grande prova di eleganza nel suo abito da cerimonia nero abbinato a un gilet e una cravatta dalle tonalità azzurrine.
