When it comes to fashion and horses, it is impossible not to think about the famous double GG symbol of one of the most famous Italian fashion houses in the world. In a few years, Gucci will celebrate a century of history linked to that of Florence, where in 1921 Guccio Gucci opened his suitcase workshop in via del Parione. From this street, a few steps away from the Arno river, a world-famous brand was born, originally inspired by the equestrian world with iconic horse riding defining graphics that today find a new edge.
The new Women's Pre-Fall 2018 collection has hit the target again, thanks to the supervision of extraordinaire creative director Alessandro Michele. This season's new entry is a charming Scottish tweed playing with the colours of the iconic Gucci Web stripe motif, directly inspired by the girth of the horse. The entry of the famous Scottish carded wool proposes the most classic blue-red-blue tones in a new look, full of personality and elegance.

quando si tratta di moda e cavalli, è impossibile non pensare alla celebre doppia GG, simbolo di una delle Maison di moda italiane più celebri al mondo. Casa Gucci festeggerà fra pochi anni un secolo di storia legata a doppio nodo a Firenze, che nel 1921 vide l’apertura del laboratorio di valigie di Guccio Gucci in via del Parione. Da questa viuzza a pochi passi dall’Arno è nato un brand di fama mondiale, originariamente ispirato al mondo equestre e con elementi iconici distintivi dell'equitazione che oggi trovano un nuovo significato.
La nuova collezione Donna Pre-Fall 2018 ha di nuovo centrato il bersaglio, grazie anche alla supervisione dello straordinario direttore creativo Alessandro Michele. New entry di questa stagione è un incantevole tweed scozzese che gioca con i colori dell’iconico nastro Web Gucci, direttamente ispirato al sottopancia del cavallo. L’ingresso della celebre lana cardata scozzese ripropone i più classici toni blue-red-blue in una nuova veste, ricca di personalità ed eleganza.
The eclectic touch of Mr. Michele for Gucci renews clothes, scarves, bags and shoes, but not only. His visionary style once again manages to reveal the most profound essence of the Maison and, at the same time, projects it towards avant-garde trends.
Il tocco eclettico del signor Michele per Gucci rinnova e avvolge vestiti, sciarpe, borse e scarpe, ma non solo. Il suo stile visionario riesce ancora una volta a raccontare l’essenza più profonda della Maison e, allo stesso tempo, proiettarla verso tendenze all’avanguardia.
This perfect combination of tradition and innovation has always been one of the cornerstones of the Gucci house. And it is right in his Florence, in Scandicci, that last April Gucci ArtLab opened its doors: a futuristic centre of industrial craftsmanship and experimentation of 37,000 square meters that tells the whole story of the excellence of the most innovative leather goods and shoes supply chain, without forgetting, however, the history of this type of craftsmanship. The new platform, which employs 800 people, creates the Gucci products of the future designed by Alessandro Michele. Not by chance, the outside walls are all hand painted, featuring artworks by young talents who have recently worked with the house, including Unskilled Worker, Ignasi Monreal, Angelica Hicks and Coco Capitan.
Questa sintesi così perfetta fra tradizione e innovazione costituisce da sempre uno dei punti cardine di casa Gucci. Ed è proprio nella sua Firenze, a Scandicci, che lo scorso aprile ha aperto i battenti il Gucci ArtLab: un centro futuristico di artigianato industriale e sperimentazione di 37.000 mq che raccoglie tutta l’eccellenza della filiera della pelletteria e della calzatura più innovativa senza dimenticare, tuttavia, la storia di questo tipo di artigianato. Lo stabilimento, che ospita 800 dipendenti, dà forma all’estetica rivoluzionaria del Direttore Creativo di Gucci Alessandro Michele. Non a caso, l’esterno è stato rivestito di vivacissimi murales firmati da illustratori e artisti che collaborano con Gucci, come Unskilled Worker, Ignasi Monreal, Angelica Hicks e Coco Capitan.
The bond between Gucci and the Florentine territory does not end here. What about the Gucci Garden, inaugurated in January during Pitti Uomo? Conceived by creative director Alessandro Michele, the newly designed space is located inside the historic Palazzo della Mercanzia, which already housed the Gucci Museo. The name is a tribute to the naturalistic elements explored by Alessandro Michele and his curiosity for animals and gardens—a vital part of the new Gucci narrative. The ground floor features a magical boutique with one-of-a-kind items, like exclusive bags and scarves. The upper floors constitute a "living" gallery of the past and present history of Gucci, with a room dedicated to the equestrian origins of the brand and its most iconic symbols: "a living place, destined to change", to take up the words of the curator of the exhibition Maria Luisa Frisa. This place also houses a restaurant led by the three-Michelin-star starred chef Massimo Bottura, a simple but refined bistro, like any self-respecting garden.
L’idillio tra Gucci e il territorio fiorentino non finisce qui. Che dire del Gucci Garden, inaugurato a gennaio durante il Pitti Uomo? Ideato dal Direttore Creativo Alessandro Michele, il nuovo spazio si trova nello storico Palazzo della Mercanzia, che ospitava già il Gucci Museo. Il nome è un omaggio agli elementi naturalistici esplorati da Alessandro Michele e alla sua passione per gli animali e i giardini — un aspetto chiave della nuova narrativa Gucci. Il piano terra ospita una magica boutique con articoli unici, come borse e foulard in vendita esclusiva. Ai piani superiori troviamo una galleria “vivente” della storia passata e presente di Gucci, con una stanza dedicata alle sue origini equestri e ai suoi simboli più iconici: “un luogo vivo, destinato a cambiare”, per riprendere le parole della curatrice della mostra Maria Luisa Frisa. Il Gucci Garden ospita anche un ristorante capitanato dallo chef stellato con tre stelle Michelin Massimo Bottura, un bistrot semplice ma raffinato, come ogni giardino che si rispetti.
